The Special Networks include a series of sites, located throughout the national territory, capable of integrating the usual monitoring of air quality carried out by the Regions and Autonomous Provinces with the additional information required by articles 6 and 8 of the legislative decree of 13 August 2010, n. 155, i.e. the chemical speciation of particulate matter, the concentrations and depositions of mercury, the depositions of PAHs and metals, the precursors of ozone and the concentrations of other PAHs besides benzo (a) pyrene.

The Agreement between the Ministry of Ecological Transition and CNR IIA, aimed at launching the Special Networks, involves, in a fruitful collaboration, various groups working in three locations of the Institute (Rome, Rende and Montelibretti).

After many years of work, the project has finally arrived in a decisive phase of its path: the first three years of data for many pollutants are now available and it will soon be possible to start dissemination activities of the first monitoring results.

In view of the forthcoming dissemination initiatives, a first version of the specific project website is now online, which will gradually be enriched with updated information and graphic displays of the results.
