CLARA (Carbon Land-Atmosphere Retrival in Alta Murgia) is a Station di monitoring ad eddy covariance just installed on the edge of the wood di Acquatettain Puglia. Its goal is measure il flow di carbon between soil e atmosphere, parameter key for evaluate la recovery of vegetation in an area that in recent years has been shaken by a series of fire destructive.

La Station It is one of the fruits of an intense collaboration between Alta Murgia National Park, in Puglia, and the Bari headquarters of theInstitute on Atmospheric Pollution of the CNR, in the context of project of research MOIRA (Forest Monitoring: Fires and Recovery in Alta Murgia) funded by Ministry ofEnvironment.

CLARA aims to to monitor la the features , diversity of vegetation in ecosystems subjects to specific events of fire, in the context of a broader pressure related to changes climate, with particular attention to possible changes in regimes di rainfall.

The site. The particularity of the 29 hectares of the chosen site, an area reforested a pin which between 2012 and 2023 was hit da three fires with the consequent perdita total of coverage wooded, lies in its being at a crossroads of ecological succession. On the one hand, there is the possible recovery of native oaks; on the other, the advance of the typical vegetation of the Alta Murgia prairie. This dynamic generates a notable spatial heterogeneity of the vegetation in the site, which is essential to monitor in order to study its evolution over time.

Expected results. The CLARA platform will allow you to to monitor le dynamics di recovery of vegetation after un fire di great entities, providing a detail on the different associations vegetable. The results obtained will contribute to the construction di models di response of vegetation of the Alta Murgia to pressures taxes dai climate changes. These models, integrated with data collected satellite, they may be used for provide evolution of vegetation over vast areas of the Alta Murgia National Park.
