Abstract of the project
The project involves the study of dust and gas abatement systems using electrofilters to be applied in national road contexts in order to improve air quality and reduce pollutant emissions from road traffic.
The activities include the analysis of the state of application of the various technologies available on the market at national and international level for the abatement of dust and gas mainly inside tunnels and the identification of suitable technologies to be applied in the road sector for the reduction of pollutant concentrations in tunnels. An analysis of the total emissions produced inside the tunnel is also envisaged based on the traffic flows estimated in the environmental impact study for the section being analyzed and the vehicle fleet in transit. The calculation will make it possible to estimate the quantities of the various pollutants emitted (particulate matter and NOx) in order to determine the air flow rates necessary to dilute the pollutants themselves.
The general objective of the study is to evaluate the application of systems for the abatement of dust and gas with electrofilters and photocatalytic materials on the quality of the air in the motorway sector, in particular, through the construction of tunnels equipped with abatement systems.
