Abstract of the project

About 90% of the goods traded globally are transported by sea, so its critical infrastructures are more than ever a precious and strategic asset for every country. In this context, the evident need for a highly responsive and more efficient maritime traffic monitoring has led to the use of newly developed solutions exploiting cost-effective satellite infrastructures. The TESLA VISION project fits into this scenario and in the DAAS (Data as a service) sector develops a product at the base of various maritime space monitoring services.

TESLA VISION responds to the need to have reliable data and information "always and everywhere", both on cooperating and non-cooperating vessels, for two different customer segments:

• Marine traffic surveillance: public authorities (customs, regulators, environmental agencies, law enforcement, ...), shipping companies and NGOs (national and international rescue organizations, ...);
• Value Added Service Providers (VASP): geoinformation, geomarketing and analytics companies.
The CNR-IIA is responsible for defining the needs of the final users and for developing the final software that takes them into account, including in-orbit calibration.
The main objective of TESLA VISION is the geolocation of radio frequency sources to provide valuable services, such as:

• Tracking of assets;
• Border and customs control;
• Environmental monitoring;
• RF spectrum monitoring;
• Data for geo marketing and analytics.
