The study of the Earth through the use of drones allows to obtain very accurate data of the earth's surface. The use of optical (eg RGB, multi/hyperspectral, thermal, LIDAR) or advanced (eg electrochemical) sensors makes it possible to obtain a complete picture of the territorial and environmental layout of the site to be investigated.

Generally, through the RGB or LIDAR data it is possible to obtain a three-dimensional modeling of the territory (or of objects) and therefore to obtain basic maps on which to calculate dimensional parameters with estremo detail. 3D models, digital elevation models (DEM), digital surface models (DSM) and terrain models (DTM), are among the fundamental products that this type of investigation can produce and on which many dimensional analyzes are based.

Spectral sensors, on the other hand, make it possible to enrich this type of analysis by defining the constitutive properties of the materials that are taken and to carry out specific studies of the territory with transversal applications to earth sciences and beyond. The final products of this type of investigation are then used to investigate the radiometric properties of the objects by extracting information about the physical/chemical characteristics of an object or of the surface. Investigations in the field of infrastructure and transport, precision agriculture, territorial changes or the identification of specific environmental criticalities are just a few examples of applications.

Finally, through the integration of advanced sensor platforms it is then possible to carry out investigations on atmospheric parameters in different environmental contexts and to provide extremely useful data for understanding specific phenomena that develop both horizontally and vertically.
