Abstract of the project

As part of the Program Agreement between the Directorate General for Sustainable Development, Climate and Energy of the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea Protection and the Institute on Atmospheric Pollution of the National Research Council, carried out a technical assistance activity.

 The Institute on Atmospheric Pollution ensures an active, effective and attentive presence both to national and international interests in the centers where the cognitive tools are developed and the documents, programs and activities relating to the fight against climate change are developed, air pollution, the development of renewable energy sources and sustainable development.

The Institute on Atmospheric Pollution of the National Research Council provides the Directorate General for sustainable development, climate and energy of the Ministry of the Environment and the protection of the territory and the sea with qualified and highly specialized technical-scientific assistance .

 In particular it follows:

  • Analysis of the technical-scientific material, definition of Italy's negotiating proposals in European, regional and international offices and participation in meetings, for the matters of competence;
  • Technical assistance for strategic - operational planning;
  • Preparation of the national implementing legislation on fluorinated gases, geological storage of CO2, inventory of emissions (PRTR), greenhouse gas emissions from fuels, fuel quality and promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources;
  • Implementation of the European action plan on environmental technologies;
  • Implementation of the European Regulations on car CO2, light commercial vehicle CO2, metallic mercury and persistent organic pollutants;
  • Activities related to International Programs, Conventions and Agreements: UNEP: Governing Council, Committee on Sustainable Development, International Intergovernmental Committee on Mercury (INC), Stockholm (POP) and Strategic Approach for International Chemical Management (SAICM);

The objective of the Agreement is to guarantee the implementation of technical-scientific assistance activities in the field of research, environmental innovation, prevention and reduction of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions at national, European and international level.
