Abstract of the project

The AdR Zero Emission project intends to introduce sustainability in the modus operandi at the various organizational levels, starting from Adr Roma 1 to define a multi-variable, replicable organizational model, shared first and foremost by the Governance Bodies, cascading from employees and all stakeholders. A broad model of environmental sustainability may favor the development of an organizational system that is more matrix than the current one, aimed at promoting greater horizontal coordination and cooperation between cross-functional teams oriented towards a horizontal organization of work by processes.

The project is structured according to the following Realization Objectives:
• OR1: Carbon foot print analysis: model definition:
Definition of the methodology to be used for carbon foot print analysis in compliance with the requirements of the standard EN ISO 14064 - 1: 2012 and division into phases of the procedure:
• state of the art analysis and data collection
• definition of intervention boundaries
• sending questionnaires
• analysis of the completeness of general data
• on-site inspection indispensable for cataloging the emission sources
• data processing provided
• choice of the calculation model
• operational boundaries of the system and identification of emissions
• Calculation of emissions and inventory development
• Preparation of the emission inventory
• Elaboration of possible scenarios for the reduction and compensation of emissions of
• Support to the company in the drafting of procedures for the management, conservation and updating of documents and data relating to the GHG inventory
• OR2: Realization of the prototype of the AdRZero Emission portal
Design and implementation of the adrzeroemission.it project portal with the WordPress system that hosts the contents of the project, configuring itself an interactive tool for sharing the initiatives proposed by the project management team.
It was decided to structure the Project website as a platform for interdisciplinary research activities that are daily carried out in the CNR laboratories of the Area and which, despite their autonomy and with different scientific approaches, show a strong impact with the concept of sustainability and contribute to provide added value to the many initiatives that are being carried out on this issue at European and national level.
In this phase it was decided to organize the projects in place in the various Institutes of the Area in 4 thematic corners: ENERGY, BUILDING, ENVIRONMENT, MOBILITY
• OR3: Case study: the building of the Institute on Air Pollution
Implementation of a GIS project (proprietary or open source) that qualifies and highlights the energy performance characteristics of the building that houses the Institute on Atmospheric Pollution.
All the documents acquired or produced (numerical and tabular information, images, etc.) will be stored within the GIS project with the aim of enhancing the wealth of information collected.
The final product will be aimed at creating a database of the information collected and making it accessible to the public to allow statistical analysis (at various levels) through a georeferenced representation system (GIS, Geographical Information System), or through interactive maps.
• OR4: Management and Communication
The objective is to consider the AdR of Rome 1 as a case study to know the CO2 emissions deriving from its direct and indirect activities and consequently to develop a new organizational management model for the Area aimed at reducing these emissions. This will entail the recognition of environmental sustainability as a value to be promoted across the organization so that the process of improving environmental performance is also an opportunity for the creation of efficient management models bringing sustainable competitive advantages in the long term.
Furthermore, it is proposed to enhance the industrial research and experimental development activities present within the Rome 1 Research Area. This initiative in fact aims at aggregating activities with a high scientific technological content with the aim of enhancing and disseminating, advantage of the Lazio region and beyond, the skills acquired, the methodologies developed, the results achieved in carrying out research on sustainability.
