Harmonization of multi-mission high resolution time series: application to BELAIR

Financed by: BELSPO (Belgian Federal Science of Policy Office) under the StereoIII program (Contract SR / 00/356) Period: December 2017 - October 2020

Introduction

The monitoring applications of terrestrial and marine environments now make use of data acquired by satellite sensors at medium and high spatial resolution. Due to the review time of each sensor which does not always respond to the requests of the study to be carried out, the time series of the application activities are of a multisensor nature. This specificity requires the consistency and harmonization of the data to be combined through specific vicarious calibrations of the environment to be analyzed (terrestrial or marine).

Description

The BELHARMONY project responds to the needs of the Belgian and international Earth Observation community to improve the consistency of the time series generated by the constellation of medium and high spatial resolution satellite sensors. The Belgian community will directly benefit from the results of the project for the preparation of the time series in the BELAIR site foreseen in the project. The results of the project will be presented in the working groups of the satellite missions of interest of the European Space Agency (ESA) as well as in several international meetings including the CEOS WGCV IVOS.

Aims

The aim of the project is the consistency and harmonization of multi-sensor time series with medium and high spatial resolution such as: Deimos-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat-8 and PROBA-V.
