Abstract of the project

The digitalisation of the transport sector has been the subject of constant attention by the European Commission and is considered a primary factor for the creation of intelligent solutions for sustainable transport, capable of bringing economic and social benefits. Digital Twins enable improved insights for better decision-making performance, particularly in complex systems where Digital Twins are used to predict outcomes and evaluate “what-if” scenarios. This leads to real-time optimization of processes and operations and ultimately unlocks value that is otherwise difficult to capture through conventional means.

In the DT4GS project, the CNR-IIA will be responsible for Task 3.1 WP3 for the activities of creating an observatory for greater visibility of maritime transport emissions and the performance of GS solutions, across the sector, incorporating the results of the LLs. The task will use a structured methodology based on the results of the most relevant projects in the green maritime transport sector. This Data/Intelligence Hub for the decarbonisation of maritime transport will in particular:

• Identify data sources relevant to GS technologies
• Capture relevant LL use cases where decision support can be useful.
• classify data based on frequency, relevance, scope, users, suppliers, etc.
• Involve GS data providers and users.
The project will enable maritime industry stakeholders to actively embrace the full spectrum of Digital Twins innovations to support smart and green shipping in both the upgrading of existing vessels and the construction of new vessels.
